Anyone put a big wheel kit in their Warrior (rear wheels)If so what kit and does it really help out that much as far as speed goes. What are the pros and cons of this set up.Thanks Guys.

I bought a set of aluminum 8" dia. wheels but have not put them on my 03 shorty yet. Adirondack Blue had a set of 8" plastic wheels on his and it was 2-3 mph better at top end. All of the serious sleds setup for Ice or asphalt have them. There was an article in SnowTech mag. that spoke about 3-5 mph top end gain. They definitely will help to reduce the rolling resistance of the track, less rolling resistance means better top end and better MPG, although probably slight. The aluminum only wheels cannot be used if they will come in contact with the backing plates for the studs or else they will get "chewed" up. You also need to offsett he axle to compensate for the larger dia.. I got a complete setup from Mountain performance.

I just ordered yesterday the flamed billet 10" wheels from Performance Engineering not for top speed but for the looks of them. However the guy I ordered them from said 5-6 MPH gain with them. I ordered them this week because they were cheaper to get now off season than in October when I would be starting to go over my sled.--- Cubby

Now dont these look cool? The flamed ones I mean. I also will chrome out the rear skid this summer too.---Cubby

Black john ;did you have to roll the chaincase to fit the 10 tooth drivers? This year I installed the MPI 136" kit in my 03. I added a quarter inch to the heat exchanger and tunnel protectors. I went with a .880 lug track that came off a Ski Doo touring model and there is very little clearance. I would love to try this mod as I'm sure there would be a big improvement in top speed especially with a couple of inches of snow on the trail.

BBY had trhem on his sled and he broke them on the first ride. I was there. Luckily for him he brought the old wheels and he had my brother there to help him take his skid out and change them back.

If you are going to run anything even a little larger than stock, make sure you get the offset shaft. Thats the mistake I made even though the Manufacturer said I would be OK.. Here is what the Used to look like

Well, whadaya know. I found someone who is almost as anal about his sled as I am. Real nice sled Bluebyyou2000. Yea I did get the offset axle kit for mine and These guys make the wheels with rubber on them for sleds that have picks on them.----Cubby

Cubby,

How about postings a few pics of your sled? I am lining up a variety of things to do to mine in the long, warm off-season.
