I would like to go with a black seat cover on my XTX, but really don't want to spend the $200 for a new black seat cover from Yamaha. Have any of you ever experimented with dying the cover? The seat is blue now, just wondering if dye would work on the blue? If not, do you know of any place I can get a cover for cheaper? Thanks for all your help!

There is an advertiser on here that does seat covers for the nytro. I think its scottys if I remember. The kit also raises the top of the seat 2 inches. The work looked good from what ive seen. Where abouts do you live in Kiel? I just bought my Harley from a guy down there. Shane

I have dyed a few seat covers with no problems and no otheres that have. There is a big thread on this if you search the apex forum.

The best brand to use is called AEM.
Not shure if you have an automotive supply arounf there. They carry it.

for about $6 bucks - go get yourself a can of Vinyl spray paint. Mine was blue once too.... Just needs a quick touch up every once in a while.

Not once last year. Will do it to start this season as there is a couple spots coming the through.
I will try to post a pix of what a wear spot looks like.... If you are not close to it and looking closely you won't

any local home repair/paint store will have it.

I took Stoli's advice last year as well and my wife thought i got a new seat as well.

it's only like $5/can. works great.

I picked up a can from AutoZone. It turned out better then I had expected. Thanks guys!

Is there ant preperation needed done on the seat before this product is used?

When I did mine, i just wiped it down good. Made sure it was up to temp since I did mine during winter and then sprayed it.

Key was just making sure it didn't have any debris on it.

Im assuming you had the gray/ black seat. Did it cover the gray good so you couldnt tell it was there or can you tell color difference?

My seat was blue at one time. There is no way, no how you can even tell it was blue! The directions on the can said to clean thoroughly and make sure the temp is between 70 and 90. Works really well, i was very impressed.

Mine was the gray seat.

After a full season you can just see some of the red threads coming through a little bit, but none of the gray.

I will retouch it up before the start of the season again. I still have left over from the can from last year.

I'm very impressed for the $
