What are everyone thoughts of running a block off plate like this on a trail XTX??? Tired of the ice......

Mine didn't work when I did it like that since I had tunnel protectors. The protectors collected a ton of ice, and started building from ther. So I made a plate that mouts to the top of the protectors. Then kicks up in the front to go around the single exhaust pipe; before it went in to three. Also bent it up 90 degrees in the back to keep misc. back flow from happening. Worked a lot better

The link below will take you to another thread on the topic ice build-up. You'll see what I and others have done.

I don't see an advantage to the exhaust completely under the tunnel unless you plan to shield it from being hit with snow. It seems the ice build-up is a result of snow vaporizing on the exhaust system and refreezing on the tunnel. Keeping the snow from the exhaust is key.

What's the story on the rivets shown in the photo above?

I had the same question not long ago and ended up PM'ing Nikolai (who I think actually took this pic)

They're called clecos. They're like a temporary rivet, they hold things in place so you can get the fitment right and everything layed out before you rivet. They're used a lot in aircraft maintenance.

Hopefully that answers your question. A google on clecos will give you more info.

A great tip....thanks again Nikolai
