Went out for a ride with the wife yesterday. She had a 09 vector ltx gt. We got three miles from the trailer and I turn around and she's not there. I go back and she's sitting there and there is oil running out of the bottom of the sled. There is no more then 600 miles on her sled. I'm not happy at all!!! I'm guessing it threw a rod. Any ideas on what happened?

Could be "the hose" came off the bottom of the air box and puked all the oil out and it seized up?

Did it seize or just stop running?

If you are away from home yamaha will pay you for it and if you rent a sled its all part of Y.E.S. I had to us one time and they payed almost 60% of the weekend just keep all your pay tags.

Nice!! Did you call Yamaha, You do have Warranty!!
I will call on Monday if there are any issues. Yes I have a 5 year warrentee. Just sucks it ruined our new years weekend

That’s what happened to my 05 Warrior. Rod went thru the crankcase....
But it caught on fire. I had the YES. They put a new motor with carb rack and all burnt parts. It took about a month.

I did contact the rep at Yamaha that was handling the claim. Between myself and a good dealer we were able to speed things up by not having to send a tech rep to look at the motor here on the East Coast. They let the dealer take things apart and give the report to the tech.

Still sucks. I guess they left the nuts loose on the rod bearing.

Good Luck, and hope you have a good dealer.

Curious, did it just have an oil-change???? Heard of guys forgetting to take off the old oil filter o'ring, installing the new filter and ending up running the sled out of oil due to the leak.

Changed the oil but had no oil until the motor failed and then there was a puddle under the sled where it died.

Did you remember to take off the old gasket on the filter ????????????? This will leak if not removed... MM.

as I stated already there was no oil leak until the motor took a crap. the sled was warmed up and then parked while my Wife got ready to head out. there was no oil in the spot it sat in the drive way and no oil leading up to the spot it died. Just a big pool of oil where it came to a rest.
