Just an update:
I have two gas filters on order and hope to have them before the weekend. For the price, I'll replace them whether they are dirty or not (hopefully the're plugged!). I also ordered the vacuum lines that go between the fuel pumps and the two PTO side carbs. I installed a tee in these lines for syncing the carbs and I thought that there could be a small vacuum leak around one of the 3 tee connections or maybe the small internal diameter of the tees are interfering with the vacuum to the pumps
As for checking the pumps, I have a gauge that can easily read 1 or 2 pounds. I'm going to test one pump at a time by disconnecting and plugging the fuel rail supply line and hooking the gauge directly to the pump outlet. I should be able to run up the motor on the stand on one pump while verifying the pressure on the other. I will also disconnect the gauge to verify flow. If one of the pumps is acting up, I should be able to see a difference between the two
02ViperMody44, what is a top-hat screen? I have had my carbs apart 3 times but I don't remember seeing any screens in there
Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

144 and mountain skis. Now I can stay on top of the powder instead of diving under like a dolphin!

some dealers remove them and do NOT replace them ..they just rely on the inline or in tank filter . because they are so small and plug easy .. not all machines have them , but some were in the fuel inlet in carb.

Yep, that could be problematic if you didn't know it was there...
Does anyone know if the vec carbs have a screen? I don't remember seeing one and I don't see it on the parts list
I checked the filters in the tank by blowing back through the lines and they appear to be clean but I'll still replace them. I also checked the pumps. They both flow good and seem to generate a bit of pressure when I block the hose with my thumb

Easy way to see if the vent is plugged is to losen the gas cap then the bog will go away.
