needed 2 sleds on weekend so i took my apex xtx out on my uncles trap line while a buddy rode betsy. heat light came on but went off once i packed the running boards with snow on saturday. as we where riding at 10 mph or less i kept the running board packed and the sled was working great.
on sunday, basically was doing the same type of riding on sunday but i was shutting it off every time we stopped to check a trap or set one. after punching through the ice in a swamp (shell ice and shallow water) we started back to camp. had to set one last box and then the trouble happened. i started my sled and made about 100 yards before it died. no heat light was on. when i took the covers off to check the levels the frame around the motor was almost hot to the touch. let it cool for 20 min with the covers off. cycled the key and the fuel pump sounded like it had an air bubble when it pressureized. ran it hard as possible back to camp with the covers off and it cooled off and ran fine.
i think the heat from the exh evaporated the gas around the pickup in the tank from lack of snow thrown up on it from the low speeds. anyone else experiance this or am i just lucky?

have you done any work on it lately. wondering if the vent tube on top of tank is pinched or blocked.

did check the exup adjustment in my preseason but all was good. tanks is not holding a vaccum as i did crack the cap to check.
Wow thats hot! makes sence really .i watched how fast my temp gauge went up when i rode on low to no snow! never shut me down but i think it was close 230 deg but i was moving (cold airflow) i stopped and let it cool - side panels off ,snow on boards.15min later with 3 starts every 5min to circulate the cool and it dropped 30deg.
Really like the temp gauge ,im sure your engine is ok
