I have an 07 apex mtn se with 0 miles sittin in my garage (yahooo) and like most apex owners i am trying to figure out what boost is best for me. I live in colorado and mostly ride in the trees. Started off wanting a sc then decided the mcx would be better and now i'm about to buy a boondocker turbo. Was wondering if any one would have pics of the intake and exhaust setup. Mostly concerned about the intake filter, has anyone had their filter ripped off by tree branches? do they breathe ok in really deep snow? On the exhaust side I noticed in a pic that there is some kind of flex joint in the pipe. Has anyone had any probs with this, will it need replaced at some point? As for the turbo,I was told the max hp would be 275 with the smaller turbo but would have better throttle response. Will 275hp be enough or will I want/need more? Is the lag on the bigger turbo that bad that its not good for boondocking through tight trees? Whats your opinion between the 25 and 28 (I think thats the numbers) Sure would like to be able to ride wheelies past the 2stroke guys around here! mouthy bastages, arent those heavy, I'm so sick of hearing that. Any First hand experience, opinions or advice would be most appreciated. thanks, Rod

I put 1500 miles on mine last year with the 25. I ran 14-16 pounds of boost most of the time. I am putting on the larger 28 this year but the 25 at 16 pounds is an unbelievable ride. I have never had a problem with the air filter mounted outside of the hood through the side panel, it does not stick out far enough to rub off on a tree. As for the exhaust question, the flex joint goes into the turbo as to allow for slight movement without cracking the header. There is an improved version for this year but I did not have a problem with mine. The exhaust is routed down and through the bulkhead exiting in front of the track. Its not loud in the snow until the skis come off the ground. I have ridden an Apex with the 28 and the throttle response did not seem much slower. Both sleds however have had the cams dialed in to 114 LC. PM me if you have any questions with install or box tuning. Either way your going to have permagrin.

I ran the 25 ( didn't know I had a choice when I ordered ) for about 700 miles last year and had no problems whatsoever but never ran over 12 lbs. My choice. Did Carrillo rods and lo-comp pistons over the summer and am looking forward to 17 lbs or so. The sound level is acceptable with the tunnel dump and no problems with the flex joint.

I have the boondocker 25 on order, I am 13th in line, out of about 20 or so waiting to the next line to be released.

25 does have better boondocking ability, quicker response, not by much though from what I have been told.
And if you think 275hp may not be enough, well think again, its going to put the permagrin on for a long time.

the turbo has some great improvements and if your doing a boondocker you cant go wrong.

They are putting out video to help with the install, I only want to add that you should invest into heat sheilding for hoes, plastics, and the header, anything you can do to protect the sled and engine components from heat is a must.

May I add getting a Diamond S hood, or a hood that allows great air flow to keep heat down.

And get some health insurance and a life policy just incase, turbo is deadly.LOL

So how many lbs of boost would you run on the gt25 to get its maximum hp and still stay within its efficiency range? Also was told to not do the head shim for my elevation. Can a turbo motor without the head shim make the same hp as one with a head shim or low comp pistons? Is the only factor the quality of fuel to get the same hp?

Do any of you have pics of the intake filter with the hood on? The only one I could find showed the filter sticking way out. I like everything else about the turbo but if all their filters stick that far out of the hood mine will be getting ripped off every ride. Has this been a problem for anyone?

You can run the filter under the hood but when you get to the fluffy stuff gettin air is a problem. Even the stock vent on the side panel will fill with snow and choke you off. I run mine about 2" out with a 6" inch foam filter over a spring so if it starts to get snow stuck on it all you have to do is reach up and give it a squeeze and "poof" clean air again.
