Is anyone running a stock motor ( no shims or pistons) on race-fuel with any boost 10 -12 pounds?
I am hoping for the best possible response on the bottom end and would be happy with 220-250 hp even if I need race fuel or even better Av gas.
Turbo is on its way

I've had no problems with 50/50 mix fron 12 to 16lbs, no pistons but I have 2 stock head gaskets. What turbo do you have?

Running a Stage SC from MPI @ 10 PSI boost with 50/50 VP 110 and 91 pump. I have also used 100 LL Av-Gas with no problems (850 miles) on an all stock '03 RX-1 internals which had 2600 mountain miles (heavy loads) prior to boost.

I have a LP turbo coming , the stock install is with 2 head-gaskets and the mountain guys usually run 12 psi and more at altitude with no problem.
I do 90 % boon-docking that is the main reason for the LP, the bottom and mid range is supposed to be the best according to a dealer that usually deals with other brands. Just trying to get the best response out of it.
Also is a bit worrisome to see al the posts about leaking stacks of head-gaskets.

When the engine was stock with two head gaskets I ran 12 psi on 92 oct and 50/50 with av gas up to 15 psi.

Just finished the 80 thou headshim job. I'm hoping to run 12 lbs on 92 octane and up to 15 lbs with a 70 30 mix of 92 premium/ race. Does this sound reasonable?

I am at 12# with a stock motor. I usually dump a gallon or two of AV in the tank just because I like the smell.LOL

Sounds good I will keep it to 12# with the stock engine and run straight AV gas in it to start with. I will have a Air fuel gauge on it for accurate mixture settings. If I need more I will go straight to the low comp pistons . Does anyone retard the Ignition timing at all for boost.

If you guys look at the sticky towards the top of this page, boost,hp, octane calculator it will give you a good idea of what fuel you need. and you will see that 8 lbs. on pump fuel is very dangerous with a stock motor, you may get away with it for awhile but it will catch you in the end. I know of several motors that have gone down due to this at 8000 to 10.000 ft. and some of them got away with it for a year befor it happened. if you want to run pump fuel then lower your compression it cost money to go fast and it cost alot more when you try to do it cheaply.
