Ok I under stand the numbers but have a question. Let say you run pump gas at 91 oct. For exmple you run 4lb of boost. Than you run into a gas station that has 97oct and you at 4lb. What i am saying is if the boost number is lower than the octaine what will happen. example. You run 110 octaine, but run 5lb of boost.
Thanks Ryan
Thanks Ryan

More octane means a higher resistance to deto, or a slower burn. To much octane means that you will have a burn to slow enough to lose hp, but not enough octane and deto will destroy a motor in no time! No serious ill effects from to much octane other than a slight loss in performance.

It is a nice safety belt to run more octane than you need.
More often than not, you are getting less octane than you are purchasing for various reasons.
When fuel sits it loses octane
Gas stations will mix 87 in they're super tanks to make more money(SADLY)

I have a question.
Here in Sweden we have 98octan.
How much is for an example 16lb boost in bar or kg?
Thanks Micke

Conversion from bar to lbs: 1.0 bar = 14.5 psi = 1.02 kgf/cm2
Pressure conversion calculator: http://www.sciencemadesimple.net/pressure.php
To be able to run it on 98 octane you need to lower the compression to about 9:1, like 10:1 pistons and 2 headgaskets stacked.

Alright, what do you think the compression is with 10:1 pistons and three STD headgaskets?

Apex or RX-1?
Boost calculator http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=23214 says Apex ~16lbs and RX-1 ~17lbs with 98 octane with 10:1 pistons and 3 stacked gaskets!
