How much Nitrous?

NOS Pro,

I am getting ready to Install a Boondocker Nitrous system this fall on my Apex. I am only doing this for a little bit of "fun" with my friends. I won't be racing (competitively) or anything like that. In fact, MY Apex will be pretty much stock besides the NO2 and maybe dyno-tuning/fuel mapping.

Anyway....How many "squirts" will I get out of my little 2.5 lb bottle? I hope it's more than 4 ???? If so, what should I do....buy more bottles :ORC

You should get 5 full run squirts, or if you use it on the trail, just use it to get away from someone, or whatever. But, I would get a 10 lbs. bottle off of Ebay or ?, and use that to refill yours from. I carry a 10 lbs. with me and keep in the hotel.

Another stupid question from a newbie

Sorry for the stupid questions but here is another...If I get a seperate bottle to use as a "nitrous tank", where can I get it filled. I have several accounts at some welding supply houses and they supply us with different gases such as Argon, Co2, O2 etc....do these companies usually carry N02? If not, who does?

again...sorry for the stupid questions.

P.S. I'm sure I can figure out how to transfer from one tank to the other.

No problem stoutner, as I think you could put it in any pressurized bottle, but the stickers would have to be changed for transportation.

Keep the filling bottle cold, and the bottle you are filling from, warm. Transfers over like magic.

Nos-Pro can you explain how you transfer from your 10lb host bottle to the 2.5 onein the sled, I knwo the physics behind having the host at room temp and the one you want the nitrous in froze. But how do you know when your 2.5lb is full? Do you bring a scale as well? Also what line do you use to run between the host and the 2.5lb bottle? Thanks!!!

the bottle to be filled will only take so much and you can hear when thepressures exaulize bvetween the 2 bottls. the hose between the bottles has to be a line that can take the extreme cold and pressure of the nos. i am using a parker parflex hose number 518b-4 myself, but there are other types of line that will work in this application if you consult you local hose shop. i would also suggest you put a pressure guage in line just to make sure you're not over pressurizing the bottle. (mine isn't pictured for what it broke when my son knocked the bottle over)

I see just by sound then. The bottle I have as a host as a gauge mounted on it so I should be able to go by that then uh?

I just am not sure about the presure discs and when they blow or why and how to fix them when they do. Thanks!!

The pressure discs will let go at 1,350 psi, but you would have to have it real warm to have it blow. An automotive store can get it, but if carefull enough, you should never need one. Take off the side blow dispurse fitting, and the disc is in there. 1-2-3 and it is done, if you ever have one blow.

I put my bottle in the snow bank, or the fridge at home, and then I warm the 10 lbs. bottle with warm (90°) water, and I use a short brake line with the 4AN fitting on both ends. About 2 1/2 ft. hose is all you need. Listen for the pressure to stop, and you are done. Find a digital scale to use, and experiment. Set the scale to zero, and then turn the valves, and see if the right amount is filling the bottle. This way you are sure. They have small digital scales for under $30 on ebay.
