im going to look at a 2009 nytro se today the sled has over 4000 miles but looks mint in the photos, any suggestions on what to look for ?
anything problematic?
any reason i should stay away from a sled with this mileage?
im in need of a turn key reliable sled and im hoping this is it.
thanks for any help in advance, the sled has some extras like skis, cover, bag, upgraded hand grips 2010, and its a substantial aking price thats pretty firm i just want to make sure i dont miss anything .
thanks again!
p.s. still has coverage through yamaha this winter, can i buy any protection for a used sled once the extended coverage is up?

Definitely check to see if the subframe has been tweaked and if there is any play in the front suspension. Aak about the A arm bushings and ball joints.
Search this site for bent subframe and you'll see a lot of info on how to spot this, ie. buckled plate, spindle alignment, etc.

Don't worry about the 4k miles it's just getting broken in. As long as it's been maintained properly (i.e. - oil change/filter after the first 250-500 miles etc).
Grimm has a great point on the subframe - make sure you look for anything out of alignment in the front

P.S. per site rules you need to add your location etc.

See if it has had the updates, call the dealer and run the vin. The tunnel should have the little supports they were an update. Ask about the rear shocks being rebuilt, very important or shes gonna ride like junk no matter what you do. (The se I believe has floats on the front, have a look at them be sure they are not banged up)My sled has 4000 miles and I did them before last season.
Check the oil and chaincase oil, if they are dirty then you know its not been serviced regularly, the rear skid has quite a few grease points, ask about the service history for oil changes , etc
Track should be ok at 4000 if it was ridden on snow.

take side panels off and use a tape measure, measure from jackshaft to lower balljoints, just center tape on secondary clutch bolt to center of lower balljoint and the same on the brake side, you will see rite a way if theres a big differance between each side, look at the cut out 4" hole in flat plate where lower arms mount, should be smooth and not rippled, if is bulkhead is tweaked, also hold front end up by bumper and have someone else pull back and forth on spindle , you will see how much bushings are wore

x2 if the sub frame is bad might as well take 5 hondo right off the top.

well i paid what he was asking after looking at four "used" sled on the way up i got there and this thing is CLEAN literally looks brand new, no studs, a arms dont have a scratch on them, bulk head looks good (although i didnt have a tape measure) and everything is tight
i didnt ask about the bushings but everything is definetly tight the steering even feels tight
the only thing that may have had a little play and i mean a little is the left side a arm , but i could tell if it was moving the sled or the arm.
does the rear shocks apply to the SE model because i got a SE...
where can i get the oilite bushings?
and where can i find infor on greasing drive bearings?

Maybe you already have a set of oilite bushings and don't even know it. You might be able to tell by inspecting it.
