My Hid on my truck goes to the battery, the set I bought for sled does not have the battery connection, just the 3 prong plug off each Ballast.
Is this enough power from the lights for initial start up?
I bought the H4 hit so I'm assuming its a 3 prong plug on the wiring harness, I don't wanna take it apart till I know for sure.

What brand of HID did you purchase? The Sled Start one has been updated to plug directly into the existing bulb 3 prong plug.

I just updated my old Sled Start HID kit to the new patch cables that plug directly into the factory light socket plugs. The HID ballasts draw less current than the original bulbs so there is no problem connecting them this way.
If you bought a Sled Start kit make sure that you have the black colored ballasts. Some newer Yamaha's had issues using the older silver colored ballasts with the new patch cables because of the high / low beam relay speed causing the low voltage protection circuit to trip.

Not sled start, got a set half off on boxing day from a HIDextra.
so i can just plug the 3 prong into the light socket. I though the ballast took alot on start up.
My truck had one 3 prong to trigget the lights and still had a fused wire to the battery.

I can't comment on other brands but the Sled Start ballasts take less current than the OEM bulbs and therefore they can be powered directly from the OEM bulb socket connectors.

The sledstart kit is cake to install. You will spend more time trying to figure out where to put the ballasts and cable than you will actually hooking it up.

$225 direct from Sled Start. Yamaha dealers also sell them, sometimes at a discount. If you do buy from a Yamaha dealer make sure that you are getting new stock which will include the patch cables and black colored ballasts.

Kurt the owner of Sled Start is a TY member and he has the best customer service around. He has designed this kit to be 100% plug & play with no additional wiring required whatsoever.
This kit can not be compared to the cheap HID kits out there. This kit is designed for the extreme's of use in a snowmobile.

Not hard to test if it will work. Set up the HID and plug it into the 3 prong plug for a test. Make sure you run the sled a switch between hi and low a few times

If you have a kit, from sled start or other source that does not have a relay harness wired direct to the battery you can go ahead and plug your 3 prong ballast connectors directly into the sled's 2 headlight connectors.
All of the extra relays in the old style relay harness that controlled the on/off and hi/lo function just added bulk and redundancy.
If you look at the wire diagram for the sled you'll see that the low beams are switched on/off by the sled's main relay and are protected by an onboard fuse and the high beam switching is handled by another existing onboard relay.
It sounds like your kit is equipped with some connectors that look like this:

Was easy plug and play, minimal wiring with mounts for the ballasts. Plugged right into the harness.
Had to grind the light housing for a tight fit.
Was really impressed a nice blue in low beam and bright white in high.
