Brake/Tail Light Snow Covered

My 2011 XTX brake/tail light gets completely obscured after just a few miles. Guys complained a bit about it last season.

Any recommendations?

Am considering a helmet mounted LED stop light, any experience with those?

It's the nature of LED lights!! They do not produce any heat like a regular incandescent bulb so the snow does not melt making your tail light almost useless!! My buddies complain about mine all the time. I moved mine behind my seat last year(under tunnel exhaust too) and even though it looks hidden, it is much more visible than it was in the stock location.

Not much you can do other than moving it higher up. Where it is located at currently it is almost useless!

Mount the tail light in the exhaust pipe...guaranteed not to ice up with snow.:tg:

I remember years ago, I think Skidoo offered heated tail lights as an accessory on their older sleds. Maybe there is an aftermarket company that produces a heated tail light? Try a search and let us know if you find something.

Stop riding in the snow.
lol :tg: if u need someones tail light when ur riding u are riding to close in my opinion. I wait till i cant see a light and ride till i see it then back off a little.

Mine gets totally plastered, but it so bright the snow just glows red so everyone can still see it without any issues. I have asked the guys a ride with about it and they all have LED tail lights now too cause they are so bright. Easy to see imho

I usually reach back and wipe it off during rest stops..it's just become habbit...but like Zakre said..it's very bright so riders following will see you without problems

I do the same as Shadow, I just clean it off. The LEDs are great for being bright but don't give off enough heat to stay clear.

But it doesn't really matter I ride so fast I'm in the bar having lunch before the other guys catch up.

Disclaimer: Ty member "revster" does not actually ride fast at all, he just likes to talk a big game over the internet.

I put a tunnel block off plate on my XTX, and it really seemed to help reduce the amount of snow on the tail light. I guess some of that snow kicks up under the seat, and blows back.
