Brand Jumpers

I for one can't wait to get a sled where my knees aren't higher than my hips while riding. Groomed trail, or powerline, heavy or light doesn't matter. I'm just too damned tall to find any comfort in the traditional seating arrangement. Even my EDGE gave me trouble on long hauls.

For the 10 min. I was on it, I liked the way the REV rode and handled, but I didn't like my knees getting smashed by the cowling. Cough! or the 2-stroke smoke - cough!.

I hope the new Yamahas have a better fit for us 11'-7" guys? Should've rode one I guess - oh well.

ENJOY!

Oh and I do like my Warrior so don't think I'm bashing it. Its a blast to ride with a motor thats so sweet. Its just an observation on what I see going on.
I don't recall if you got the chance to ride the '06 sleds but I suspect you will pretty much fall in love with the Attak/Apex when compared to your Warrior. I would have stuck with my Rage and saved myself a lot of $$$ had I not ridden the prototypes.

Hey I started out as a Doo rider, switched to Cat and now again to Yami. I switched for the motor.

Now about all this rider forward centralized mass crap. I still not sold on it. For groomed trails I still like the big tripple tripple weight over the ski's handling. Rides flat handles great. My 1000 Pantera (Cat) will out run, out ride and until I switched to Simmons ski's (because all the sled wanted to do is roll with the stockers) out handle my Warrior. It doesn't handle better now just on par more or less. Now of course I'm talking about the old skid and not the new. Maybe if I swapped in the Cat skid my warrior would ride a ton better and maybe handle better as well. I'm contemplating that very idea.

A curious thing is the Pantera weighs 30 pds more and has a huge amount of weight over the ski's but he Warrior still feels top heavy in comparison and will roll way easier.

The new Appex Attack is getting sucked up into this rider forward thing. Everyone thinks they want to be a snowcrosser. Hey the ZR ZL chassis is the best handling chassis of all that are out there now. Why would that be? Its not rider forward. Its an old school groomed trail runner.

My 2000 600 ZL is fast in the twisties will corner with the inside ski 6 inches in the air and no hint of roll over. Awesome on the groomed trails and I guess that is the key. Groomed trails!

So now we go rider forward to handle the bumps on the crappy wooped out trails. But we go forward and up. We put the rider which weighs on the average 180pds up in the air. Now we have to lean more to compansate. Its a vicious circle. My brother loves his Rev in the junk but admits that his MXZ 700 is a better groomed trail runner. Less work to get the same handling. Equal work gets better handling.

So whats the answer? Don't know for sure. What I do know is for groomed trails (my kind) ZR ZL SRX handling in far more important than snowcross handling. I'm hoping that the Attak Appex Fusion will be the comprimize. I worry though that like everyone else they will continue to push this rider forward Rev stand up to ride style to the point that groomed trail sleds will disappear.

I have hoped that the sleds would split into two markets. Groomed sleds and snowcross sleds. Being that the sled manufactures have not had it as good as days gone by money wise. I'm not going to hold my breath.

Oh and I do like my Warrior so don't think I'm bashing it. Its a blast to ride with a motor thats so sweet. Its just an observation on what I see going on.

Well this is my allthough maybe somewhat confused or confusing take on it. May groomed trail sleds live on.

;)!

Man i agree with you 100%... once you ride a good SRX-viper or ZR.. its hard to give up that awsome handling... ITs the only thing i missed on my warrior, the razor sharp handling!

Yep every sled has good and bad points about them. Awesome handling was the for mentioned sleds good points indeed. I do like all sleds and have a open mind about them.

Brand means little to me I go where the next sled calls me. Yami has me now because Cat abandoned all sanity and got rid of the tripple tripples. I rode a F6 sno pro Cat and was impressed with it but not my kind of sled.

Doo has nothing to offer me other than a snowcross sled worse than Cats for cramping up my knees. Sorry riding a sled like riding a fourwheeler means no more riding sleds for me. RER is awesome but not enough.

Polaris has big paint shaker twins same as the rest. So not even interested. The fusion has some very good features on it however.

That leaves Yamaha with thier 3 and 4 cylinder four strokes. Awesome! Just don't get too rider forward becuase I hate to give up sledding. The Warrior just fits nice, higher and further forward I don't really need.

Heres to waiting for my first ride on the new iron! If I had to choose on based on whats out there today 06 still is a Yami choice.

Switching from an 04' Rev-Gade X to an 06' Attak. Just hope it works off trail!

Hey there....I had a 2004 & 2005 Renegade 800HO last season. The Gades works well (the 2005 did...not the 04 :o| ) but you will LOVE the Attak...I rode all the 2006's two days after a 1300 MILE trip on my Gade800HO. The Attak is SWEET...you will notice a small weight difference but the engine is to die for. I bought a 2005 this year but if I had the $$ I would be on a 2006 Attak.

You made the right call. I am not sure how well the 1.25 RIPSAW would do off trail but on trail it worked well. Worse case scenario, swap out the RIPSAW for a paddle track and you are set!
