I cant drive 55 for long lol,I have always broke in all my motors weather 2 smoke or 4 smoke by motos theory, and it has worked, full throttle bursts for a few seconds to a time, than stop let cool, and redo but a little longer in throttle till I have like 20 miles like this, than drive near normal for the remainder to 100 miles, than up the wick a tad more but longer runs in the 35-45 mph range, just to get the crank and enternals to start loosening up some, after 200 miles drive more normal, pulls up to 100 for a few longer seconds, and than wfo runs to near max than back right down and let cool. What do you think Yamaha will want?

I have never "broke in" a motor. Drive it like you will drive it from day one. My attack had about 60 miles on it before I made a few 2+ mile wot runs.

I honestly did break in my Viper. Started with the heat cycles and looking for leaks. Then I know a awesome trail system that it is impossible to hold it in one position for more than a 2 or 3 count. Hills, jumps, tight and twisty but fun as heck. I made a point of riding there for the first 500 or so miles. I knew I wouldn't be able to resist holding it pinned for minutes if given the chance. Find a place like I described and just ride as fast as you can!

I run the RPM pretty much by the book... I run the initial oil longer as it tends to have extra moly incorporated into it... My dad and I have bought nearly identical sleds and he always claims mine open up better...
Now I have also been in the Subaru scene for a number of years... Rule number ONE... Change your oil early or run the risk of major turbo failure... Not sure about a new from the factory motor but anything I have assembled and installed I run conventional oils for the first 2 OCI

I never break them in by the book. just do not hold at one speed for long and don't drive like you stole it for first couple hundred miles. You will be fine. If you baby them I find they don't perform the same. Just my experience. Two stroke I would be more careful.
