I know... I know... I said all along, eventhough this was said to be a great product and no doubt worth the money, I refused to pay $175 plus shipping to fix my hand warmers when they should have worked from the factory....
BUT.... I found a guy on HCS that had a brand new plug and play yamaheater for $129 shipped, I offered him $100 and he agreed to take $109. I rode my wifes xc today and the grips were warm before I even started out... I gotta get warm grips, Im sick of having my hand warmers on wide open only to get small intermittent burst of slight warmth...
Should be good to go now... WARM HANDS, HERE I COME.... LOL

you will like it. He also sells an add on booster that ramps up the voltage. you can add it onto the unit you have. Once you use it, you will be pissed you waited for a discounted one.

I was just looking on his site, looks like the booster is for 08-2010 sleds, is there a difference in the handwarmers on the newer apex's?? or am I reading that wrong....

I installed the phazer sub-lead on my 06GT for $22 and my grips work awesome!! I actually have to turn them down! The sub-lead didn't work for my 09 LTX so I may need a Yamaheater or get the update kit from yamaha. They say that the update kit is a night and day difference.

He probably did the Rockerdan Mod.
(The same mod Hammer1 did)
Be careful turning it up too much as it puts a major load on the stator & seriously risks frying it.
(A big risk here is letting others use it also, warn them about keeping it turned down.)
Hope this helps!

I still have a 06 handlebar I will get rid of to do the rocker dan mod. I did it to my 07 and you could not turn them up all the way they work great.

Is there an update option for the 2009 apex? i thought it came with the updated kit from 2006. My 2009 warmers are terrible.

You are correct, some of the newer sleds have colder bars yet.
Try it without the Booster, if they get nice & toasty at idle, you probably won't need the Booster.
PM me a pic & I will let ya know if it has the Booster already.

Rockmeister, your Yamaheater is awesome!
If Yamaha ever gets their act together and produce hand warmers that work
, you'll take a serious hit in sales. Looks like you'll be in business for a long time, cheers!

Thank you Grimm!
I appreciate that.
At least we have options.
Still not a bad sled. I'm just now replacing my lower chaincase bearing, not all bad for 14,000 miles.

I went to ROCKS yamaheater this season,my original 06 bar/sublead "fix" was good at the time, but remember your pinkies will still freeze while index finger burns with my "fix".
ROCKS yamaheater is the proper way to make any 4 stroke yammie truly hot,and it works flawless im happy to report after an entire season of riding....I love cranking on the "red light" when warming sled up and grabbing already HOT GRIPS right when i pull out in morning, this assures your hands arent trying to "catch up" from being cold initially...and remember with rocks heater, the bars heat right to the end since you use the 07/updated bars.
I even think after all season, that when in "GREEN MODE"(STOCK MODE) the bars are hotter when riding, then they ever were before the yamheater.
i dont care what the price is,this setup plain works and is worth every dime the first sub zero day you take off.

I think the same thing. When mine was stock it was allmost allways maxed out on the temprature. Now once I crank up the yamaheater to get grips warm, I back it off to 3/4 to half way up on the temp scale and ride there all day. I think before your hands got so cold that they would never warm back up.

No doubt about it. I have the Yamaheater on both of my sleds. (nytro and phazer) The phazer is so hot even in "GREEN" mode that I'm probably going to have to mount the on/off switch for easier access because a couple different times my wife said she could not turn the warmers down far enough. A very good problem to have IMO.

Yamaheater beats expectations. Prior to installation left grip was always warmer than right until I plugged in heated shield, than the right was wamer.
Now balanced heat and provides more enjoyable ride. It doesn't matter how fast or smooth the trail or machine if your hands are numb.
I also used minimal expanding spray foam insulation in the bars- works even better.
