I was having trouble with my hand warmers on my 05 RX1 so I decided to take it in to the dealer. Dealer checked everything and figured it was the CDI that was source of the problem.

Dealer ordered a new one and will be installing it next week. Is there any chance of anything changing? MPG / Top Speed etc..... because I changed the CDI?????

I rode my sled and it is AWESOME on gas and runs real quick up top BUT the warmers just get warm....dealer said they only get to 70F rather than 100F where they should be!

You know how it goes....I just don't want other problems just for the sake of warm hand grips. :o|

hand warmers

i have seen this before. this is what happens when you hook your heated visor to the hand warmer wire under the handle bar pad or other #*$&@. burns reostat. yamaha has warned dealers to look out for this.

Hey JOHN It was your post from last year that I found when I did a search about this last week.

You mentioned that you had a problem with your grips when hooked into the BLUE wire as well. To my surprise after reading your post ...sure enough I checked and mine was hooked to the BLUE wire on my sled as well.... :o|

FOR THE RECORD GUYS....I didn't actually do the hookup....I bought the sled and the electric shield cable was already connected. I normally hook mine up to the high beam wire. I didn't know that the BLUE wire was a bad place and just assumed it would be OK because it showed power on the meter. I was wrong I guess because it did cause a problem and sure enough as you mentioned, the CDI box is what the dealer found as a problem. Thankfully I have a GREAT DEALER who will take care of me. 8)

Hope this helps others as well. Just goes to show that there is a TON of usefull info on this forum. :rocks:

Thanks Black John ;)!

Anyone answer my original question??? Will a NEW CDI have ANY effect on anything? Good or Bad...
