I broke the drive axels this weekend on a 2007 vector. Was cruising about 50 mph heard a bad noise , hit the brake and never had any, instantly thought the chain broke, it was the drive axel that broke about an inch or so out from the chaincase.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I replaced the track 1500 miles ago, and I only put 48 studs back in the center

common problem on yamaha's dating back to 700srx and before. Usually happens after 8500 miles or so.

I've seen it in RX-1's with lots of studs - always looks like it's a progressive thing - the crack about a quarter of the way thru (rusty) and then the rest breaks away. too much torque.

Do you think this would make a vibration in the sled prior to the drive axle completely breaking.
