broken gear bolt

Hey, I went to change my 24 tooth gear to 23 and when I took the chain case cover off I saw that the bolt that holds the bottom gear on was sheered off. Just thought that was wierd. The sled was bone stock with 2500 miles on it. Any ideas why that would have happened? 2009 Apex GT.

there was a problem with the bolt, there is a tech bulletin about this. yamaha has up-date parts # if you need # 90105-10068-00 changes to 95817-10070-00. 2009 # is 90105-10320-00 changes to 90105-10369-00. 2010/11 changes to the 90105-10369-00 # so this the one i order.

My 06 just did that to me about 3 weeks ago. Just make sure you clean the threads good.
