Took the FX out for a trail ride today and overheated it after a long run and idling. Was running pretty hard thru a swamp and the thing started bottoming and just about thru me over the handle bars - stopped at the next crossing and the shock link was broken - so off to the dealer on monday for a link and a fan. My dealer has been pretty good so far, it seems yamaha doesn't keep them in the loop with these things unless a customer brings a concern and then they go to yamaha with the concern.

That's exactly what happens when that link lets go, it's like a rodeo! Fortunatly it's a known issue now, I got accused of abusing it the first 2 times.
Strange how some dealers know about the issues, some don't, some are very helpful, others are useless. I would demand the updated link, as the replacement lasts half as long as the original in my experience. Rear side panels are free now as well. Good Luck.
