OK so the inevitable has finally occured. I have an '05 RX-1 and the front swing arm in the skid is broken. The good news is I am still under warranty. The problem is the dealer wants me to bring in the entire machine to have the problem fixed. This is an issue cause my machine is hours away. I removed the arm and brought just the part back with me to swap out but now they want me to drive 4 hours to get my machine, drive four hours back to bring it to them so they can fix it??? Does anyone know if there is a way around this?
The dealer is saying no. I understand why they would want to look at the machine, probably because they want to make sure it wasn't subjected to something that might void the warrantee...but at the same time this is obviously a problem Yamaha has been having. Its not like they should be surprised this has occured and really even question it that much. The only other option I have is bringing it to a dealer that is closer to where the sled is located but I still have to drive 4 hours one way to get it, and the closest dealer to there is at least an hour from that point. Here I am, home with the broken part, I just want to find a way to bring in the part and swap it without having to do through all the driving and missing the riding time, not to mention the cost of driving 180 miles one way with the truck and trailer. I have been nice, maybe too nice. I guess its time to start getting a little more on the pissy side since I bought a brand new machine and paid for the warranty, and I feel like they are trying to make it as difficult as possible for me.

Whats your time worth? 8 + hours round trip is a long time but, without the sled I don't see how they could warranty it. Is it cheaper for you to just buy one and install it yourself? Just my 2 cents.
I would tell the dealer you can do that but the next time you buy a sled you might just drive 4 hours to buy it.
