After sending pics to Dealer and them sending the pics to Yamaha, they said they will not fix it with the updated arm, that I would have to pay for it myself. So my question, is there a aftermarket kit to replace the stock one with ? Or should I just get it welded up and gusset it. I personally think it's total #$%&* that they will not fix it even though they know they have an updated arm to replace the weak one with. The dealer did say that Yamaha said they might sell me the updated kit at dealer cost but that's the best they'll do. Has any one had the updated arm fail ?

Believe it or not there is two versions of the updated arm.Later is better and has the double plating for the mount extending all the way to the cross tube.I wouldnt pay for it.Get the welder out.Its only a matter of time before your link breaks and then they will do the update free.

They said they wouldn't because it was out of warranty. They also said it was replaced once, and I said yes but that was before the updated arm was released so it has the stock factory 07 arm. Here are some pics.

Glad you posted pictures... when you said front arm I was assuming front A-arm. I think what you broke is the "dreaded link". See the following thread for the update kit part number...

I would push hard to try to get Yamaha to cover this.... maybe try a diferent dealer? And definately call Yamaha direct if necessary. This is a very common issue.

Here is my updated rear arm ;) broke updated one already he is my supper updated arm!!!

cannondale27 why rubber wheels? I take it no one makes a aftermarket kit? I guess if not I will just get it welded. I really don't want to mess with another dealer as these guys had the pics over a week and they said Yamaha wanted me to take it to the dealer so they could assess it and then I would have to wait for a rep to look at it, and after all of that they said if Yamaha determined it was indeed the 07 arm that all they would help me on was selling me the parts at dealer cost #*&#*& . We already had to cut our trip short when the mounts broke, so now it has been down for 2 weeks and we have almost 2 feet of snow here and my son can't ride it. Dealer also said it would be 5-6 working days before they would look at it and then could be up to a month for the rep to see it. I'm not waiting that long.

yam177 looks like I need to have my buddy gusset it up like that. Maybe if I have him add about 5 lbs of metal to the arm it might be strong enough to not break. It just pisses me off that Yamaha claims this is a rough trail machine and it can't handle regular trail riding with out breaking. I have several friends that were considering Yamaha as there next sled but with all the current problems these sleds and the Apex & Attak's have I and then Yamaha not standing behind them, I'm definitely going to tell my buddies to think again. I never ever broke my Ski-Doos' or my Polaris'. I beat the crap out of them when I was younger and before I broke my back, now all I do is trail ride and do some off trail stuff. No more jumping for me so maybe my 07 Attak will not break the crappy front arm.

I broke plenty of skiddoo rear arms last year theyu are making sled light and more powerful something will give. Just weld it up and ride it. I have been Snox and CC racing mine and with it welded up no issues yet

Hey Cannondale, my dealer just ordered me up the whole update kit... part # 90891-50149-00. Do you know if this includes the updated and reinforced front arm?

I searched through a bunch of posts and cant seem to find the part# for the update kit.So not sure.

That held up for the whole 500 and it was all 3-4 foot holes running at 60-70 MPH banging through tem no issues should be fine as long as its wleed well and braced in the exact right spots
