Hey guys looking for some opinions. I’ve got an 06 RS Venture and tonight fired it up to move it around after wiring in a heated helmet shield. In the morning I fired it up drove it outside and let it sit for the afternoon to work on my kid’s sled.

I backed it up and then put in fwd and it wasn’t fully engaged. I hit the gas and it made a clunk sound and engaged into fwd and ran fine and shifted to reverse fine. I then noticed the smell of popcorn and had light gray smoke coming from the engine compartment then the smell went away. I started it back up and everything seemed fine and no smoke. Any ideas? I know the air box is clean as I had that off to get to the battery. I was afraid I fried a cylinder or something. Coolant and oil levels are good

No codes? could be electrical, everything seems to be working though, the clucking sound sometimes happens from forward to reverse, maybe some sort of a mouse nest or small wasp nest, popcorn smell is a organic, electrical has a very distinct smell when burning.

Mice putting sunflower seeds in sled? Packed my dad's exhaust with them one time, smelled like that and had flames coming out exhaust when we would stop lol

Definitely a possibility. If you store any cat food or deer food in the same area as your sled, they seem to love packing it in around where the pipes come out of the block. Cat food smells like the wife is browning a roast.

You guys are the best, it was definitely bird food, I found it in my windshield bag and in the engine compartment. Got it out the best I could no more popcorn smell and
the sled is running great knock on wood.

Well i guess the lesson here is:

If you run out of popcorn.................bird seed will do.................who knew?
