08 Nytro RTX with the 144 OFT kit.
Rear suspension sags to the stopper blocks. If I lift the rear of the sled it will stay at "the top". If i press lightly on it, it will sag to the stops (the first part of the scissor suspenion). Is the rear shock pooched or am i missing something?

Might be a shock rebuild in your future that won't cost too much.
Get in there and have a look.
Lube it up while your at it.

Cross shafts could be rusted up or shock (s) are in need of a rebuild. Is this sled new to you or do you maintence it yourself? Pull the skid and investigate.

Both torsion springs still there or is one or both possibly broke?

Its mine and yes I purchased new. 3800km. Have ridden this sled hard in the ditches and fields. Likely shocks toast.
great, just catch it going into winter, better buy a new one for spare.

Both are still there. Everything looks good. Will likely pull skid and do a rebound test on shocks.

Dealer telling me the shocks are just for rebound/compression. Rear springs should be holding it up he says?? Springs look ok though....

Not if the suspension shafts are all rusted. Do you grease it before you put it away in the spring. Sitting all summer and then greasing it is a bad combo as it has all summer bogger them up.

My phazer did the same thing. Had the springs on hard and it would still stay down.
I pulled the skid and tore it apart, cleaned it all up got shocks rebuilt and the difference is night and day. I push it down and it come all the way up with the spring in the middle position.

This makes sense, likely combination of corroded pivots and shocks being pounded out.

I see that your nytro is an 08, my phazer is an 09 and the guy said it was defiantly due for a rebuild/re-valve. I took a leap of faith and sent them out not expecting a big change. Boy was i wrong I will get it done yearly now. Best money i have spent on my sled to date.
I suggest pulling it out like i did and tare it appart. That way you can see if any of the shafts are went or cracked

This is correct. the shocks are not what holds up the rear suspension, it is the springs.

What did it cost? Did you do the front shocks at the same time?

around 50 to 60 bucks a shock for a rebuild and revalve. i did not do my front fox floats just because they still work well and because of my budget being a student.
i would do a bit of searching for a local shock shop that deals with snowmobiles. it would be your best bet.
