Buying a 2006 RTX today, what to look for??

Hey guys,

I am coming off a 95 Vmax and stepping up to an 06 Apex RTX. I know the general things to look for:
-bent/dented tunnel--is it normal to have a little wear on an apex?
-bogeys firm and in place
-track lugs in place
-dented/damaged belly pan
-bent/dented ski's

I was wondering what else you guys would be looking for from a used sled with 3500 miles? He said all regular maintenance has been performed and the sled has not a scratch on it.

Drive shaft bearings dry up on these as there is no grease zirk. Check the exhaust, exhaust donuts are a common problem (exhaust leak, backfiring). Only 2 real issues i have seen in 5000 miles on my 06 RTX.

Thanks, how do you visually inspect the exhaust donuts? Sorry for a stupid question, but being new to the sled, i have zero idea what to look for with those, or even where to look!

Can not do visual inspect on exhaust with out removing seat fuel tank and shield if you hear a rattle on cold start up or hear exhaust leak or back fire from under fuel tank area the exhaust will be leaking

Check front suspension bushings as the plastic wears fast

look over the rear suspension close. I just bought an 06 rtx myself. What kinda deal ya get on it, if ya don't mind me askin...

Coming off a '95 I wish I could be there after your first ride on the '06.
Your going to be fogging your helmet so bad because of laughing inside your helmet. Your going to love it!!!! Like said above a couple minor issues, put gas in it and go. Just do searches for info on hear and all your questions will be answered. Great people here!! Snows comin!

Look for cracks in the front arm in the rear suspension..

check for ware in the rear suspention adjusting dial. mine wore out from the track hitting it 2 times.
