NICE!!!!, being the first REAL BIG storm of the season, i can picture many downed limbs and trees on the trails due to heavy wet snow coupled with high winds. groomers are gonna be busy all week I am guessing. keep us posted as it hopefully continues to pile up!

The Wind Is In Control Of The Snow Now

**High Winds/Heavy Snow Creating Hazardous Driving Conditions**
**Near Blizzard conditions continue in spots through this morning**
**East/West roads are in worse condition due to the strong N winds**
**Some areas saw well over a foot of snow in Northern Lower Michigan**
**Some areas saw much less**
**All areas will continue to see strong winds along with lake effect/lake enhanced snow through this morning**
**Please continue to pass along weather information (total storm snowfall, current weather, etc) with date and time in the Feedback section below!**
-------
Here are some snow totals from the National Weather Service and from Spotter Reports up through the evening:
Cadillac.................................................................19"
McBain..................................................................18"
Meauwataka...........................................................17"
9&10 Studios in N. Osceola County..........................17"
Kingsley................................................................15"
Cross Village..........................................................13"
Just South of Indian River.......................................12"
Cheboygan............................................................12"
Lake Leelanau........................................................11"
Wellston................................................................10"
Traverse City.........................................................10"
Just South of Paradise..............................................9"
Suttons Bay............................................................9"
Central Lake...........................................................8"
Onekama................................................................8"
Drummond Island...................................................4"
Charlevoix.............................................................4"
Gladwin.................................................................3"
*Of course, some of these reports are a few hours old so additional snow could have piled up adding to the totals. Also, check out the feedback section for other areas from viewers stating their totals.
Additional snow is likely to pile up in the NE/N lake snow belts of NE Lower and NW/W Lower Michigan and areas west of M-123 in the U.P.
Please put any additional storm totals in the Feedback section below!

This morning roads are being plowed but still in rough shape thanks to very heavy winds. Power is also out in some areas so street lights won't be a help with the blowing snow. Signs are also snow plastered making it very hard to see exits and reflectors. Be very patient on the roads this morning and an additional 30 to 60 minutes will be needed this morning. Temperatures this morning are well below zero for portions of the Eastern U.P. where snow is not falling while the clouds are keeping it much warmer for areas in the Lower Peninsula. Regardless of the air temperatures the winds are easily making it feel well below zero. The Sault Ste. Marie area is seeing wind chills around 25 below zero creating dangerous weather.
Today visibilities will be greatly reduced as the winds will make more of a ground blizzard thanks to the snow blowing and drifting. Areas along Lake Michigan and Lake Huron may see another 1" - 2" of fresh snow but the biggest issue is the blowing snow. Winds today will be out of the North/Northwest at 15-30mph. Highs today will be around 8 to 18 degrees with wind chills well below zero.
Tonight some light lake effect snow will linger but again the biggest issue will be the winds. Winds will be out of the North/Northwest at 15-30mph creating ground blizzard like conditions. Overnight lows will be in the single digits below zero to middle teens. It will be warmer near Lake Michigan thanks to clouds and light lake effect snow.
Things will start to get better by late Tuesday as winds become lighter and high pressure introduces dry air. Tuesday morning will still be very windy and some light lake effect will continue but it won't be until late afternoon and early evening that things start to slow down. Highs Tuesday will be in the low teens to low 20s and winds will be out of the Northwest at 15-25mph and becoming 10-15mph by the evening. High pressure will move in for Wednesday creating mostly cloudy skies and gradually becoming partly cloudy skies. Highs on Wednesday will be in the 20s.

Plenty of snow to ride , lots of trees down across the trails , some with no way to get around.
Lost Pines got power back at 10 pm last night , 20s sure could use that Kabota to get dug out , it is a mess.
I went up thru Harmony Hils last night , had to ride the roads back due to the tree situation , even the tow trucks were in the ditch , there were 5ft drifts across the road.
Smart money would wait a couple days to get the trees cleaned up and panned out.

I also heard that the US Park Service has taken over the LEO function in the Huron Forest and from what I have heard they have already been busy doing there job well.
