I had a previous post asking for info. on this track. I've decided to go with this track for my 07 attak, but now I have a few more issues.

I just was told that this track comes clipped every third, with every third window closed. I've been told that it has to be modified to have all windows cut and fully clipped. I was also told that the stock drivers won't work with this track. They say I have to convert to doo extrovert drivers.

1) Does the track have to be fully clipped? Do I have to cut out the closed windows?
2) Will the stock drivers work,or do I have to change to the doo extrovert drivers? If so, does anyone know the part numbers for the doo drivers.
Why extrovert drivers vs. stock?

Can anyone out ther tell me if they have made this conversion, and what has to be done to do it properly.

I absolutely hate the stock 1 1/4 " Ripsaw off the trail in powder. All it does is trench, and I'm stuck more than being able to play in the powder...and I don't need to tell anyone how an "Attak" can quickly become an "Attank" when it's stuck!!

Please Help.

Whoever "they" are is wrong. You've got your info a bit confused:

Intense is a track that indeed comes clipped every third with every 3rd window closed. Therefore Ski-Doo extrovert drivers will NOT work with this track, unless you cut the windows out.

Cutting the windows out is not necessary. You can leave them closed and run it as-is with the stock drivers. Or you can install SLP anti-wear pads on the closed windows, if you want a little more slipperiness and extended hyfax wear.

I personally installed a 1.5 inch Intense on my 07 Attak. It fit with everything stock. The only minor mod I had to make was to the track itself. It rubbed the heat exchanger protectors in front, so I used a utility knife to cut notches in the lugs that rubbed. Nothing else needed to be done.

You'll love the track. Install it. Incidentally, it has NEVER ratcheted on me, with stock non-extrovert drivers, and I'm running it pretty loose. Frankly I think the lugs are so close to the heat exchanger protectors, there isn't any room for this track to ratchet in there.

I didn't buy extroverts, and I personally have seen no need for them.

track change

I am also ready to switch to an Intense on my 07 attak and am happy to hear good things about it. This is my first time changing a track and have been looking for tips and procedure on TY. I located the track change procedure on TY Tech but would like to see if anyone has a link with good info on change overs. My girlfriend is tired of looking at my back while I search 497 pages for info and getting sidetracked on everyone elses questions. Thanks for any help.

Good Post. I was thinking the same thing about a track change vs. extending it to a 144, just to get some powder performance.

I just got back from a very rare thing in Alaska - a ride on a groomed trail. The Attak was awesome

But I need some better powder performance big time! I've got a stock 07 Attak with Apex Mtn skis.

Just wondering why you didn't consider the 1.5" Camplast Crossover track instead of the Intense?

Above link covers most everything, except for this example being a non-reverse chaincase. (RX1 and Attak are pretty much identical) As for the reverse chaincase, no big deal...just carefully take it apart and remember how it goes back together! A digital camera and good notes will likely help you if you're worried about forgetting how something goes.

If you get stumped on a particular step, just post a question here and someone will jump in to assist you rather quickly.

The intense 1.5 is a great track, but I will tell you first hand it WILL ratchet on you. We have tried every track tention. You need the 9 tooth extavert drivers. We noticed it will ratched the most in heavy deep snow. If your going to put the time into it just put the drivers on as well.

I am using a fully opened and fully clipped Camoplast Intense 1.5"x136" together with Ski-Doo 9T extrovert drivers. The Intense (used to be called Challenger) has been my favourite track on other sleds too, and in my opinion, crossover sleds need this type of track to perform in soft trail conditions and in off trail conditions.

The Camoplast Intense 1.5"x136" is available only as every third window closed and therefore every third clipped. You can use this track together with any type of internal driver (like the stock Yamaha driver), but you CAN NOT use this track together with extrovert drivers.

If you want to use this track together with extrovert drivers you must open all of the closed windows. The closed windows are clearly marked and can easily be opened with a sharp utility knife or carpet knife (silicone lube on the knife will make it easier). You will do one track in about one hour.

Fully clipping the track is optional, but I recommend this. I noticed less hyfax wear compared to the standard Ripsaw. Though, I do not know if this comes from the fully clipped track or from the fact that I run less track tension due to the extrovert drivers.

Like craze1cars said, please be aware that there is an interference problem with this type of track. The track lugs are longer than the available distance between the drivers and the front radiator stud protectors and also between the upper cross shaft wheels and the tunnel stud protectors. Simply, your track lugs will rub the radiator and tunnel stud protectors and they will rub quite bad (you will hardly be able to rotate the track by hand). Some people on this forum will tell you that this is OK, but in my opinion a clear interference problem should be fixed before it is even existing. If you are never going to use studs the best solution is simply to remove the stud protectors, that will save you some weight too. If you do not want to remove the stud protectors you can notch the top of the track lugs where they meet the stud protectors (very easy on Intense, use the same knife to remove the W-pattern on the lugs located between the track holes and you will get the clearance needed).
