I can't get the bottom bolt out of my front skid shock because the idler which is on the same axle is in the way. Do you really have to take your idler off to get it out? If so, how do you even get them off? There are aluminum blocks holding them on and I can't tell how to get them off either.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I just had my skid all ripped apart when I sent my shocks to star suspension and installed there kit, for the center shock I had to remove the idler wheel, on the aluminum block there is a set screw you have to loosen, mine was hard to loosen because they have loctite on them so I just used a vert slight amount of heat and they loosened fine. Someone else might chime in with a better way to remove that bolt.

I took mine off last night without removing the wheel...might be because I have Ulmer's wheels and they seem thinner.

Just ripped my shocks out on my 2011. Yep, you have to take out the front inner idler wheels to get the bottom bolt out. Crap design. When mine goes back together, it will have the star suspension kit in it. I hope that this kit will relocate that lower bolt position.

Just as I feared... and my set screws are brown with rust so they will probably strip too. I'm debating drilling a hole in the idler like some other manufacturers do as long as I don't drill through the rubberized part.

Had no problems with my set screws, was worried also.

Thanks for the link, I'll try tonight! Now that I see how everything is so difficult to get apart I may replace all my bearings in the mean time.

Try a little heat, I just took a heat gun and heated it up a bit and it come out easy, I couldn't even get mine to budge, and it was just bending my Allen keys.

Jeez, there is always something. I still can't get my set screw to budge; tried a small pencil torch and heat gun. I don't believe there is anyway to get the shock bolt out without removing the idler.
