My 05 Vector requires choke to start even when warm after riding for an hour or so and stopping for a drink or to take a leak; literally 2-3 minutes. Also, I'm smelling fuel and getting poor fuel economy. My guess is I need carb cleaning and/or sync. Am I on the right track here? Thanks in advance.
I'm guessing 1 or a few of your pilot jets are plugged and especially if they have never been cleaned.
I ran my sled for 3 years withought cleaning them nd noticed each year the sled seamed to have more of a sputter to it. It doesnt sound as bad as you describe with yours but it was enough for me to notice a loss of performance and a change in the engine when goosing the throttle. I cleaned my carbs and 2 out of the 3 pilot jets were plugged. I cleaned them out and sled fired right up and after a few minutes it sounded weird again so I took the carbs out and checked and they were plugged again. After this time sled sounded and ran great. Sled fires up almost instant with the turn of the key and I don't even need the choke very long at all.
I just got my carb sync tool today so I'm going to make my first attempt at syncing them. With all the sources I have, I should be able to do it withought to much of a hasstle.
I'm no expert at this and this was my first time ever taking my sled apart and cleaning the carbs and now syncing them but glad I researched it and know how to do it myself. Next time around it will be very simple
