When synching the carbs, it states to remove the vacuum cap. I see that the two outside carbs have the caps whereas the two center ones actually have fuel lines running to the pumps. Are these just vacuum lines to the pump and will not cause any problems when removing them to install the the carb synch hoses? The Service Manual shows having all four carb synch lines connected so I'm thinking this is correct but wanted to check first before doing so.

Those are just vacumn lines. If you run the engine too long with these disconected the engine will run out of fuel. Just plug them in again for a short time.
you got it, ya have to be quik though because the 2 vaccum lines that you are talking about run the fuel pumps so you only have the fuel in the bowls

Thanks yamamax :!: I wouldn't think I would have the lines off long enough to run the carbs out of fuel while synching them.

I'm gald this post was here. I went to synch my carbs tonight and I did run out of fuel. I tought I did something wrong then I searched and found this post. None of my bikes were like this. These carbs weren't as easy to synch as my FZ1 was. The end result I had them all really close at about 21 cmHG on the manometer. They were off a bit and my sled only has 500 miles on it.
