carb tuning.. getting close, but could use some help.

I tried running mine with 132.5 mains last season, still too rich. I'm trying 127.5 this season to get to 12.0-12.5 AFR at wot.

At 10 AFR your sled will fall on its face. You have to jet down. Work with the mains first to set WOT afr's then work on the needles and pilot screws and jets.

Looking forward to find out if you get any change in behavior when jetted down.

Man nuts you guys can go so small on the mains never could on my set up. Good luck man!!!

mains depend SO much on float bowl signal.. i have a hose barb tapped into my charge tube right after the turbo, and the thing sticks into the charge tube about 1/4"... and has a slash cut on it. the way its setup it gets HUGE airflow to my float bowls and a lot more pressure then I am seeing at the carbs. this should allow me to run super small mains..

yeah, my afr bounces around right around 10.. the AEM gauges have multiple settings(afr, lamda) and i think mine is in one that only reads from 10-18.. cuz it wont read less then 10.0.. wonder if theres another mode that reads even richer cuz it seems to hit 10 easy then hang there.

i got the 130's rockin and should have some more input come mid afternoon tommorow.. and some video and pics for you guys to enjoy.. i think most on TY only have never seen pics of the beast!

alright.. here goes. went riding today and put a few miles on the beast. 130's are still to fat, BUT, now i can run WOT and it doesnt just die on me. it runs 10's and burbles. if i crank the pitot system wide open it runs awsome on top end but just leans out the bottom end TO much. definately closer, and ran a lot better. gonna try some 125's... ughh more jet swapping

Great to hear you're on track with jetting :-)
I'm going the same route, my IC is designed the same as yours when it comes to pressure signal to the float bowls.

I did notice it ran better down by the truck when we were coming out.. dropping around 2000 feet in elevation i could almost get it to run right.. next stage of my tuning is gonna be done at 3000 feet when i go home from college for my christmas break.. so then i can use some of this fuel!

when riding at the end of the day up high, it was pegging 10 afr under WOT and stuttering pretty bad. when i did it again by the truck with no messing with things, it ran 10.1 afr and definately was missing a lot less under wot.. so just need to drop some more on the mains. sucks thought, wont hold 10psi with the super rich jetting, it runs to 10.. blows slides open then loads up and drops to 8#... then i only get 9500 rpm out of it and there is a lot of power left on the tabe!

funny story.. i rolled the sled on its side trying to carve.. and my tunnel dump caught on fire.. luckily I saw it and shoved snow on it cuz i would be down a sled if I hadnt noticed it. also was having issues with blowing my charge tube off.. got a fix for that on the way. I also need to build a hanger for the carb rack as all my carbs popped out of the boots when i hopped down onto a road and landed realy hard

Sounds like you had a real busy day. What caught on fire and how could it catch on fire. Just take the spacers out of the clamps that hold the carbs on and they will tighten up enough to stay on. Mine has held to 23# of boost. When you have the carbs off again see if you can feel spring pressure on all your needles. I'm just wondering if one of the holders for the needles might have popped off.

ill pull plugs to see if one is way more obviously black.. but i dont think so.

fire was i layed the sled over and tried to keep on the throttle so it wouldnt stall, couldnt get it back upright on its own.. and some fuel poured through the exhaust and i think there was a small backfire.

I didnt even think about yanking the spacers.. they dont go on very tight with them in.. the problem is my airbox hangs on them so when i slam down it wants to jump off. but i need to install new bolts on the carb boot clamps as i have done it so many times mine are stripping out. so new ones and removed spacer should be good.. i have an idea for a small little hanger that will be super easy to get to and take the strain off my carb boots, it also might be why i was having issues iwth my charge tube connecton coming loose as the carbs/airbox are bouncing all around.
