My warrior with 13k is spitting carbon at start up only....I have done the ring free before, but wondered if this was due to a cold engine and shrunk rings at start up. Doesn't do it once warm. Is this possible? Hate to keep ringing it and then changing the oil so often.

My 03 with just under 14k does the same thing. I asked the same question before also and what I got for an answer was: "lots of them do it and it's nothing to worry about. Drive it" So thats what I am doing.

my 05 did it and it still runs great.

I think it's starting to... I dont have it down to an exact amount yet. I am paying attention now.

Its very normal for it to soot up on a cold start as it is choked and running very rich. Once it is started and the choke is off it is still cold so it will soot up until its up to hot running temp. Ride it like you stole it and if its using oil just add a conventional oil and ride her hard and enjoy the beast.
