I have read lots on limiter straps breaking but I haven't found anything on why they break. I am not sure about the mono skid but on my CK skid the lower bar which attaches between the front of the rails (the limiter strap is wrapped around it), just barely clears the inner track lugs!!
I just replaced the straps at the beginning of the year & noticed they are already pooched! After assessing the situation, I then realized that the underside outer edge of the strap is hitting the inner track lugs!
If the track or strap moves over even a fraction the strap will come in contact with the lugs!
Does anyone have a fix for this problem?
Do the mono's have this same clearance issue?

I noticed the same problem, the top bar has a cover going over the straps to protect it but the bottom one has nothing! Going to see if I can come up with something over the off season. Got a new set of straps from dealer that will go on when I do my spring service work.

I went thru 2 sets of straps before a realized that my shock had little or no rebound restriction. I assume the straps were taking a hit each time the front of the suspension released. No more bubling or delamination since i replaced the shock..... and that's 20000 km ago.

Also, i trimmed the lenghty retainer bolt to nut top, as to prevent picking on the straps as suspention gets near bottom.... and i suspect this is more than aestethic too.

Saw a 2011 Nytro XTX at the sled show on Tuesday, it was a demo. Guess what? It had a broken limiter strap on the left side.

Did you check to be sure the straps are not rubbing on the inner track lugs like mine? Like i said, there is next to no clearance on my RTX what so ever!

There was then little signs of rubbing... and still is. But not the cause for the strap to break in the middle IMO.
