Center shock wear!!

Update...
Tried Ulmer's bearing kit in this spot.
Didn't last through the season last year.
Shock eye is still taking damage even more ground down this year.
I've never seen anything like this on any Doo I ran before.
On those sleds the center shock was mounted to a cross shaft.
Anyway...
Until I change the track (re-stud correct patterns myself) maybe next year.
Any ideas on a temporary fix?

update...I thought the larger wheel would help this...Im disappointed the result isnt much improvement..

Guess I'm just looking for a band-aid fix for this year.
The larger wheels and marginal wheels I'm using must be helping a little.
But not enough.
I may end up pulling the offending center studs and moving them.
But then I'll have holes in my track rubbing along the shock bracket.
Still thinking about it!! :o|

mach heres another helper well maybe wahl makes something called anti stab kit...I used it on my attak...I put it in the place of the limiter strap pull...in this case it would add three wheels one in the center which might help keep the center of the track away...

or maybe even use the four wheel kit with two in the center closer to the double wheel shock mount location...
of course along with the oversized wheels albeit poo or doo wheels...

did you run oversized wheels at the mount and the rest of the bogies then? and it didnt help???

SJ, Yes the center wheels by the mount this last year are Doo 135mm.
Yes, Wahl anti-stab... been thinking about it.
I will add more wheels if I can figure it out without stuff hitting.

I think I was the first to run an anti stab kit on here on a trail sled without extroverts...in the end it worked well there...

Im thinking of the same thing maybe between the limiter pull and that shock mount...but will have to examine the skid again..

I have extra wheels right up by the limiter, within 1/2". Bottom line is this.... It comes down to as to where the mounting position of shock is attached to the skid. ski-doo does not have it like that and most of the OEM's are similar to the DOO. This was the same issues as the mono, but I believed they went to a bigger wheel on the top for the later models, to help alieve this issue.

Bottom line is this... Don't stud the center belt at the exact center point of the track. Goto to the left or right by just a bit. I'm studded down the center and my shocks don't have a mark on them, but my studs are closest to the rail at the preasure points, on the inside belt. You get better traction and will have no shock issues. Also, you don't have issues with studs hitting the exhaust.

Unfortunately for me...
My dealer studded my XTX when I bought new Nov. 2008.
I hope they don't do that stud pattern anymore...!!

Just pull some out and move them over, the ones that appear to be right smack in the center. The ones in the center just move to left or right closer to the rail.

On another note, Yamaha warrantied my shock on my Apex from the wear. May want to try if you have warranty.

Don't say the word warranty.
After having my sled looked at by Yamaha technical reps.
Into 2 different dealers.
Getting a lecture the first time around (brand new sled 150km) that I was wasting their shop time.
Meanwhile I'm trying to show Yamaha how to fix the limiter strap issue.
I don't know if they will ever find a proper solution.
One of the reasons I'm so active on TY is to help show others what to expect or what not to do, plus get ideas on how to fix the dumb donkey issues.

That's a bummer, but I see where you are coming from.
