So I was torquing the little black bolt that screws into the stud near the chain tensioner, and boom snaps. I don't know what happened, it never reached it's 7lbs and I thought maybe something was wrong, so now it's broken flush to the stud and I cannot get it out. Tried everything, can I run without this bolt. Seems useless to me to be honest.... If I have to I'll drill it out and re tap it, but if I don't really need it, forget it. This was the last bolt I had to tighten and I was done! Ruined my day

No I don't have one that small, and I already drilled a little hole slightly off center to try and spin it out with a flat head. Hard to explain but I've done it this way many times before. I don't think I can use an ez out now since the hole is off centre

Ok, if that's the bolt that goes in through the cover and into the chain tensioner stud you are going to want to get it out and replace it. It gives the tensioner support on both ends, which it needs. If the tensioner studs breaks it could cause catastrophic damage to your chaincase. Definitely fix it or you will be receiving a tow this winter.

X2 very small but very big job.

use a roberston or torx screw driver and hammer it into the hole you drilled into the bolt. even if its off center it will come out. i had to do this to a clutch cover bolt last winter

This is going bad lol. Got about half drilled out, and the bit snapped. I can thread the bolt in about 3 turns, now I don't think I can get this bit out, I'm thinking thread it in as much as I can, and build up with washers on the outside of the chain case cover. I don't want to do this though, I like everything perfect. I understand it gives support, but I dont see that stud breaking especially with the support provided from the tensioning bolt. Any ideas what to do with this now lol. Can't really drill a drill bit, especially because it's a hardened bit

Wait how does it support at both ends? The bolt supports at one end. But i agree it does need to be fixed

That stud is built in, can't be replaced. At least it looks that way. The small gear one looks replaceable.
