chain case cover

pulled chain case cover on my 2011 apex xtx with reverse and am having trouble getting it bac on. do the 2 dogs on the shift mechanism drop into slot on drive gear from the top as i cant seem to lift them high enough to clear and drop in groove.

Yes, I've done many. A little tricky but not real hard. Do you have the linkage unhooked so that you can move it easily?
