03 rx1 all of a sudden going down the trail it started screeching while the clutch was engaged. Stop put it in reverse and back up, no noise. Did shift a little hard into reverse but went in. Made it back home, pulled chaincase cover and appears to be no issue. Cogshaft bearings feel tight. All bearings in chaincase and chain was tight. Any ideas? Thanks

Found it! Bearing on cogshaft behind chaincase. Is there a way to grease these? And can I leave cogshaft in sled, pull complete chaincase and replace bearing then chaincase?

You need to disassemble the chaincase as that bearing is pressed into the inner case, also not greasable as it is sealed on one side&open to chaincase gear oil on the other side.was it low on chaincase fluid?not common to have that bearing go bad.will need to remove secondary clutch, speed sensor etc&pull driveshaft out, also replace the speed sponsor side bearing while your there as that is the common one to go bad,can remove seal&regrease but if your replacing the right side I would just replace both.how many miles on the sled?

4500-5k ish miles. So shaft has to come out completely? Damn. Wanted to pull case and bearing and press new one on and reassemble chain case.

Is it the same 6205 bearing on speedsensor side?

No totally different bearing,I suppose you could pull chain case apart&remove speed sensor etc&pull shaft out of chain case but shaft is all but out by then

just get the all balls kit for the drive axle and the jackshaft and do them all while you are at it. odds are the speedo bearing is pretty crusty as well.
