Chain case area was making a noise that sounded like metal against metal or a bearing going out… Took the whole chain case apart and can’t find anything wrong…clutch side bearings seem good too.... Could a worn out chain do this or can I have a bearing that feels fine to my fingers with no play in it making this noise… Even adjusted the chain on the trail but after I did that it would make a clunk noise when you would take off from a dead stop as if there was more play in than before adjusting it. I would almost describe this noise as if it was super charged or if you put your rubber timing belt on a car on too tight and it progressively got worse by the end of my day to the point where I left my sled at the bar and got a ride back to the hotel. Also every year I do relube the bearings on the clutch side..... Tod

How many miles on the sled? I’d be inclined to pull the case apart again and replace all of the bearings. I did exactly that on a new to me ‘13 Nytro project sled I’m building. It had a little less than 9000km on it, but I have no idea if it’s been maintained well or not, so did them all. Yamaha has a spec for the chain....you basically have to try and measure amount of slop present within a certain number of links. I’d be surprised if you’re out of spec. I’ve seen chains with well over 20 000km on them show little to know measurable slip between the links. I have replaced several high mileage chains just for piece of mind though.

what is the situation with lower bolt. they had a huge issue

While not a Nytro, my Apex made some pretty bad sounds when my reverse linkage got outta wack

This sled did have the lower bolt come loose on the other owner but it’s not the case this time
