Hi guys. I had a 2008 FX Nytro for two seasons. After about 500 miles it developed a "zinging" noise that was proportional to my speed. I got advise that the chain was too tight. Even though I loosened it the recommended amount, the noise never seemed to go away, until warmer weather riding in the spring. This year I traded her in for a 2010 Nytro XTX. The first 465 miles were AWESOME. Yesterday, while out on a cold weather, ice accumulating ride, all of a sudden the zinging was back. WHAT HAPPENED? Did my chain tighen on its own after that certain amount of miles? Could ice buildup be causing chain tension? What kind of damage does riding with a too tight chain cause? Any answers would be greatly appreciated, as the noise messes with my head while riding. THANKS!

Check for loose ice chunks in the tunnel above the track. It cause a similar sound.
