mod 08 nytro, 2-2007 phazers and a 2010 sno pro 500 speedwerx exterminator. new 2014 nytro for towing the snowcoach. 2015 Viper mpi turbo
i have a 2008 fx nytro, first time out with it i noticed a clunking sound from the chain case when i brake hard and then take off, is it the reverse set-up making the noise? if i pick up the rear of the sled with my stand and move the track by hand forward and back i can hear it then too. any help would be great thanks

I always thought it was the drive wheels taking up the slack between the "nobbies" on the belt when I slammed the breaks on. If you really think it is the chain case, check your slack. Maybe its too loose?

Has same issue. Had a hole in the bottom of chain case. Oil gone=replace everything on the side. Tear cover off and check it out close.

if it has oil on the dip stick, then what else should i look at????

I will take off the cover and look everything over and post what I find, thanks

chain tension , tighten it down finger tight then back it off quarter turn .

i would remove the cover and look for any damage .

this is what i found so far without taking off the cover, i lifted the rear off the ground, and i can rotate the brake rotor about 3-4 inches before the driveshft will move, the jackshaft moves with the rotor but it take 3-4 inches of moving it before the lower drive wheels move, i am beginning to think it could be slop in the reverve system? the chain was tight, backed it off and then finger tight with a 1/4 back-off. so any ideas before i take it apart? also, how hard to replace the cover with all the reverse parts? never did this before and do not want to mess it up, thanks.

Tip the sled on a 45' with the chain case sitting "up" ... this saved me from all the gears and whatnot coming off when you pull off the cover. Pull it off slowly so everything stays behind ..... it's a b-otch to get back on ... reverse arms need to be "up" when putting the cover back on.

Before pulling the cover, tighten your track up to see ift its slipping past the drivers. I had a similar sound which I thought was from the chaincase or jackshaft and I tried tightening the track and that helped alot with the noise. The weird thing was the track wouldnt ratchet under acceleration.

It might be your secondary as well. If under hard acceleration and then brake hard it bangs quite loud if your not used to it
