In process of swapping out track for the second time. Putting in new bearings, seal etc but was wondering about chain.

Noticed that the tensioner seems to be screwed in a long way and chain is getting close to reverse gear and has quite the bend in it. See picture.

Sled has about 18000km on it now. Should I also replace drive axle? It looks fine but???

beter safe then sorry if you ride hard you may want to change drive axel. chain is bets to be changed as well.

change it .too close for comfort ,we all know its on its way out someday ..and your case covers ,and money and time ..

If it's stretched enough that your bolt is almost all the way in, I'd change it. Cheaper than it breaking (happened to me 2 years ago). Also if you remove the chain and hold it sideways and it sags it's time to replace.

Good Idea to change chain, although I have put in excess of 15K miles on two different chains,,,, but,,,,, YOU ARE NUTS if you leave that old drive shaft in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys.....was pretty sure I knew the answer but thought I would ask anyway. Been looking around and it looks like Ulmer is the best place to get a new chain and drive shaft?

I always run Yamaha chains in my sleds, but that some after market chains may be just as good.

Ulmer just posted a sale on the hd shaft with extros already pressed on.

3. Measure:
14 link section a of the drive chain
Using a spring scale, pull on the drive chain
with 36 kg (80 lb) of force b .
Out of specification Replace the drive
chain.
Maximum 14 link drive chain
section length:
133.35 mm (5.25 in)
Limit: 137.35 mm (5.41 in)
Measure the length between drive chain pin 1
and 15 as shown.
Perform this measurement at two or three different
places.
If replacement is necessary, always replace the
chain and the sprockets as a set.

decided to go with a 2010+ yamaha drive axle assy....anyone know how much i need to cut off the end so it fits in my 07?
