2007 apex, 25,000 kms, still runs strong. had sled since new, I do the usual...., speedo bearing, belts, oil change, shock rebuild, track & skid bearings etc etc.
what I am interested in ....is to keep this sled tip top what do the high milers recommend replacing ?
gear box gears & chain ? clutch bushings & bearings ? anything else that is prone to go ?
I had to replace starter last year but all else is still great.
just want to make sure it is trustworthy on the long hauls !!! :sled1:

Have you changed your driveshaft yet? Most on here say they fail around 10,000 miles give or take? (do a search)

Some good info in here.

yes, I should have mentioned, drive shaft done around 12,000 & installed extroverts at same time...
you are suggesting doing it again.... dam... you are probably right !

Another driveshaft
Jackshaft bearing
Speedo bearing
Chain case bearings
Chain
Inspect reverse gear for wear
A arm bushings
Ski/spindle bushings
Exhaust donuts
Secondary ramps
Primary sheaves
Steering blocks

Those were the items that I often found had excessive wear.

I have the ulmer front end bushing kit installed, they should hold up ??? I will check.
the rest I agree with..
thanks for the input !!

I don't recall the mileage but I did wear out the Ulmer Bushings. It was just the bottom ones on the bulkhead. Think I replaced them around 10K but this will vary depending on how much rough trail you ride. Kind of a pain in the butt to remove the old ones.

This really says a lot about the build quality of these Yamaha sleds. With this kind of mileage, others might be looking to replace, not do general maintenance! I posted a similar question a while back http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... highlight= and only got one suggestion from tomanytoyz; change the brake fluid!

When people change/replace/check common parts on these sleds, whats left .brake fluid, fuel pump, freshen up the foam in the seat - lol. love my sled more and more.its always new kinda.. :drink: look at everything!
