Chaincase cover stuck

Cannot for the life of me get the chain case cover off. Any ideas welcome

All the bolts and chain tension bolt are out I have pried it a bit and there is noticeable wiggle but seems stuck on the shaft. This should not be difficult but is becoming frustrating.

I've googled it and can only find one other mention of this but on a polaris but it was a problem with an o ring

If all the bolts are out, brake disk is off and all that it should slide right off. I am thinking it may have to do with you're other issue with the drive not working.

Here is an image. Not sure if it shows but there is a bit of oil around the bottom of shaft

Yeah that is what I'm afraid of but I can't fix it till I get that cover off Any ideas as to what could be keeping it on there?

The bolts on the left, were they for holding the battery tray? I can't seem to remember if those need to come out. That being said you say there is some movement so Its not likely that they need to come out.

Sounds like the brake bearing may be shot and stuck on the shaft? That's the only thing I can think of?

Yeah the bolts on the left are for the caliper and the battery stand. Both are completely backed out but just left in place so I don't loose them

Thanks for the suggestion

So, any luck getting it off?

Do these covers have a dowel between cover and block like some of the other models?

Parts diagram shows one just in the bracket for the parking brake bolt hole but listing says there are two. I think I remember there being some but did not cause any trouble at all getting the cover off.

I can remember other posts where the cover was hung up on those dowels, not sure if the cure was penetrating oil, heat or lots of wiggling with a pry bar in the right spot.

Edit: Maybe I'm thinking of dowels between the case and the block- not the cover and the case.

Success! I did finally get it off and discovered the source of all my problems. I'll admit I was frustrated and in the end just took a steal pry bar and put a lot of force behind it. It budged a bit but not much. It finally popped off with two of us prying(one at the top and the other at the bottom to keep the cover straight)

As soon as it was open the top of a bolt dropped out. It was the keeper bolt on the large cog. It had sheared right off and somehow put the chain in a bind, thereby locking up my track. Doesn't appear to be any more damage other than a mangled washer and some scratches to the inside of the chaincase. Have to wait till someone can pick up a new bolt from Whitehorse for me but should be good after that.
