chaincase oil smell

since ive changed my driveshaft and replaced all bearings in chaincase and jackshaft,i put on 400 miles with no problem,my only concern is when im crusin along and hammer the throttle for a short spurt i get that gear oil smell,if im riding at normal speed,like 50-60 mph,no smell,the case is not overfilled,thought i had too much and it was venting but the level is dead on,kinda weird,any ideas

The 06 nytro in our group has the same issue...it's leaking somewhere because the level is going down but there's no trace of it. It's very strange...

might want to use a dye kit with a black light. it is the only way to find some leaks.

maybe the drive shaft is flexing under sudden accel?

i dont know but there must be some kind of pressure in there,i just hope those new bearings hold up

Our guy found it to be the 06 chaincase cover...sucked the gasket in the bottom. Wierd though. There was no pool or real indication of it leaking....

i was just thinking that,i'll finish the season then will install a new gasket,thanks for the info,the way its going,we will be riding right to the end of march and maybe april,
