I am not positive, but I believe my 07 service manual showed the gasket for the chaincase as "NEW" this year.

my dealer just replaced mine on my attak. He was told by yami rep. to replace cover since I have had alot of trouble with reverse. They also replaced all the gears under warranty.

Please report back. Curious whats the difference when you lay the 06 and 07 side by side. Different shape, material? My sled is just about out of warranty. Would like it replaced if it's different, better and Yamaha will authorize the repair.

The gasket is a U channel. It cannot shift!
Seems that somehow they 'weep'. Perhaps from improper torque ont he mounting bolts after someone has had it opened up?
I still haven't pulled my case apart.
What I know for certain is my buddies have experienced loss of chaincase oil leading to serious problems. In the very first case they experienced, the dealer said the gasket must have been installed incorrectly because it was sitting inside the chaincase in one area. The dealer said they were 100% certain the gasket was now installed correctly so there shouldn't be any more trouble. During the following times, the dealer and several Yamaha mechanics told us the gaskets are shifting when they get very hot. Most have actually said they are getting "sucked in".
The only thing I can think of is the gasket gets so hot it softens to the point it can move somehow. At the same time the dynamics of the oil movement and chain motion cause a local vacuum somewhere which makes the gaskets "suck in". I really can't explain it and I have not seen the parts first hand.
Let us know what you find when you compare the 06 to 07 covers.
