I just bought a freeride track from tracks usa, anyone change one yet? How big of a job is it and is there any shortcuts i should know about before i tackle the project next week? :4STroke:

i've done it twice, it is a big job. side panels on both sides come off, battery tray comes off, chaincase cover comes off, take skid out, take chain and gears out - extend skid, put back together - getting the nut off the bottom gear is tough if you dont have the right size socket.

I did it once about 3 weeks ago and it was easy. I've never even done a track swap before and it was easy as hell. Didnt think it was a big job at all.

I've done several Doo's, a Vector, a Nytro, and a Phazer. The phazer is by far the easiest I have ever done. 3 hours tops if you really take your time and have a snack and a beer or two,

If I went and did my phazer again. I could do it in, 1.5 hours.

I can get my skid out, in about 5 min.

Hardest part is putting the skid back in. The rest is real easy and very straight foward. Lots of good right ups on this site.

is their a link to these write ups for the phazer? or is it the same thing as any sled?

i am good with the skid just not too confident with the chain case. that is what is holding me back from getting the free ride

yes there is a post or write-up somewhere.

but actually it's easy. just getting to the case is more time consuming. pop off the case cover (10 bolts?) & just 2 gears & a chain. nothing will fall out when you take the cover off. (except the oil)

if you have any ?'s if you get lost in the re-assembly, i can scan a copy of the service manual for you.

I did a polaris track last year and it was pretty easy, but everything is so tight on the phazer that is why i questioned it.

Honestly guys, just go for it. Its so easy. I'm 17 and just started rebuilding dohc single cylinder dirtbike engines this passed spring. I've done about 5 now and they are simple. and changing the track on the phazer is a thousand times easier. show me up boys

does anyone have a picture of what gears need to come off. ive never had my cover off so im not even sure what a chain case looks like.

my brother and i did mine in 1hr flat. (no beer breaks though)

easiest we ever did out of Apex/Nytro etc...

If you have never done one just take your time...

if anything it is a very easy time to change slides or add in a low-snow wheel.

My slides wear the most right where the skid curves up, i am thinking of adding a wheel there
