Not legal for what? Decoration? Why would LED's not be legal? Just about every new semi temi trailer uses them now...and may cars on the road as well. They are much brighter and safer. Especialy for tail/brake lights in the sun...
As far as the LED's...I don't know. Nice job on the installs..but maybe a little too

Hey Mark, do you have any contact info for the place you mentioned, were you got your led's?
Gotta put 'em in the Apex. No better time to put them in. I hope to find something that I can switch colors.

Well after lots of trips back and forth to the store I finally finished my lights last week. What a pain in the azz! 20 ga wire is not fun stripping and the tight confines of the Nytro made it even harder. I ended up using 15 ft of split loom and 6ft of clear pvc to protect the wires.
I decided on 2 pods per side on the shock area and 2 pods per side in the engine compartment. Wired in extra wire between pods so if the bottom panels have to come off should be able to pull the wire thru rubber grommets that I installed. May have to install some quick connects of some sort to make it easier.
The lights in the inside I used adhesive back velcro so you can just pull them up when you need to remove the panels it also easier to reposition them to get the best light. I've gotten real good at taken the panels on and off during this install
Then decided to put the light strips on the tunnel becasuse it looked easier (LOL) and didn't want to deal with snowbuild up, plus the tunnel is long and straight. I ran those wires thru the clear pvc alonside the fuel tank into the engine bay.
Added rocker switch under the key ran wires to the battery with a fuse.
Heres some pictures from the install. Enjoy

Looks like a light saber on the side of your sled! Thats a very cool look, I'm sure you'll see a few more of that popping up now..

well so far so good guys, i modded my kit a little bit because the bars i had on the sides of my sled were grounding out and popping fuses, so i adapted 2 led bars from a varad underglow kit i had on my car, and man do they look sweet, now the only thing is that the snow is showing the age of the varad bars and im lucky i found a place to get replacements for them

i had one mounted in the center at the top and one mounted vertically on the cross piece that is where a 121 would end, the one mounted vertically got ripped off though
i have them going to a central distribution mondule that is mounted where on a plate above my head, i think its where a lightweight bettery would go or something, and then the switch for the module is at the base of my bar riser

For those who mounted the LED strips underneath of the sled, how did you mount them? I put some under the running board last year, and first trip the wires got iced up and broke off. I want to try it again, but want to mount them in a way that won't come off. I thought about silicone, but I'm open to other ideas. For the wires, I'm getting a different type with a tube and weather proof wires. Then, I'll cover it with some plastic sleeves. So, is double stick tape strong enough to stay on there?

You can check out this thread. I used self contained light strips on the boards that were fixed on with double sided tape and screws.
The wiring runs in vinyl tubing and is clamped to help resist from being torn out by the ice.

Looks great! Thank you. I really like the idea of putting tubing over the wires to protect them. I'm going to do that, and use heat shrink tube at the ends to keep it secure. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!
