Indy,
To chime in here, concur with your points.
This is one reason why I'm going to get 25,000 miles out of my 05 RS Venture.
Currently am about 400 miles shy of 12,000 miles on the sled. As advertised, the motor should easily go 25,000 miles before the valves need to be checked.
I put precision skis on it, it steers like a champ in a variety of snow conditions, have tweaked the suspension for both two up, and solo cruising, have a Kimpex/ Polaris wheel kit on it that reduces the track howl and extends hyfax wear to the point that I have over 10,000 miles on a set of Hyfax and still going strong.
My question to Yamaha is why can't Yamaha produce a "total package" sled to begin with?
I do see both sides, many feel that by trading every couple of years they can do better value wise at trade in.
I do feel many don't realize how durable these sleds really are.
Many just get tired of the same old thing so they have to have the latest and greatest machine that is produced.
These 4 strokes are not like "dissposable" two-strokes. If one does proper maintenance, and takes care of the chassis, the machine will easily last 5-7 years, if not longer.
I personnaly see more value in running the sled longer. Just the way we are because we don't have to keep up with the family next door.
Plus, I am using the Venture as my own personal endurance test bed and documenting all the sleds requirements!
There a lot of Yamaha sleds out there with a lot of life left.
Guess this is why they call this country America.
My contribution to the thread.
