I would like any and all opinions on who's clutch kit I should install on my shorty 03? Give me the advatages of each. Thanks!

No. I am really new at this computer thing and not real smart. I was hoping some people like yourself who have much knowledge could help. How do I do a search???Google or Yahoo?

I have had really good luck with Speedshop clutching. Stage 1 and 2. I then had Matt upgrade me to the clutching for the ECP kit. Great setups but obviously needed some fine tuneing.

I also hear that Allen at Ulmer racing has some great stuff and I know his customer service also is awsome. ;)!

I am not mechanically inclined, so I am looking for a plug and play set up. I want to have as little tuning as possible.

Both kits will come as set up as you will need as they both ask questions like rider weight, track, studs and whatnot. Most just fine tune for thier specific needs

IMO, you should probably stick with the stock set up then. If you aren't willing to fine tune, you are setting yourself up for a big disappointment.

I just came off of a 2001 VMAX 700 Deluxe and I had a Hauck Trail Kit installed and never had to play with it. I am sure someone out there has a system for the mechanically challenged.

How is the Bender set up? How about Fett Brothers Heavy Hitter or even Hauck's set up. How about Heel Clicker?

Can anyone give their opinions on some of these set ups?

I have to agree! One set up though that works nicely is to change your secondary to the white spring set at 3 + 3 or 60 degrees. You could also if you wanted to get another 2 or 3 hundred rpm is to change your primary spring to O-P-O (orange pink orange) and leave the rest stock. I have this set up and it was done at a dealer in 30 minutes and is cheap.

I have had the heel clickers, heavy hitters and bender racing kits. This is what I found with each.

Bender - came with Heel clickers and special helix, did almost nothing and was smoking belts. I called Bender and got very little help. I had to fine tune this system heavily on my own.

Heel cickers - these are the weights that came with the bender set up. There are 3 clutch arms and none of them weighed the same there was 3 grams difference in weight (VERY BAD) between the heavy one and the light one. I called Heel clicker and they told me that I had to order them matched in weight if I wanted them to be correct. I had to grind off metal from the heavier arms to match the lightest one. These weights were set up at bender. They must not have weighed the arms before adding the weights.

Heavy hitters, Fett Brothers from the speed shop - I bolted them in, did some helix adjustments to fine tune the rpm's and this clutch kit is 10X better than the heel clickers in low to mid power range. This kit made the sled feel like a rocket. I dont lake race much but I am sure you could do anything you wanted with this set up.

I bought the ECP kit when I had the heel clickers in. The air filter kit worked ok with the heel clickers but after I switched to heavy hitters it was incredible. Both the heel clickers and the heavy hitters I believe have the same top end.

If you do not want to fine tune anything the best kit out of the 3 would be the heavy hitter set up from the speed shop. The 3 listed clutch kits are the only ones I have used.

wesleeja,

Now that is a complete analization. I really appreciste the time and effort you put in.

So, I guess the Fett Brothers Heavy Hitter set up is leading the way. In your opinion you think this set up was the best all around set up you had tried. It sounds like there is not much tuning involved. I am stricklty a trail rider (corner to corner) and love to blast across an open field when available. We hit lakes every so often, but 99% of my miles are trail ridden.

I have spoke to the guy at Fett Brothers before just never bought from him.

Anything else you can think of when it comes to the Fett set up?

Just so you're aware, those HH's are ADJUSTABLE WEIGHTS. You stick them in, then you ADJUST THEM, then they work. You seem to be asking for something that is NOT adjustable. You've already got a plug and play kit in it, stock. Works great for general riding. If you want to customize it, then you need to know what YOU want it to do differently and tune it to make it happen.

I am very dissapointed with the heel clickers. Smoked belts and engagement was too high. changed the heel weight and lost top end as well.

Dialing in hc,s is pretty easy.Get a Low finish angle on the helix & just add heel & tip weight till you get proper rpm,s. I run hammertimes in my turbo RX-1 & they really work well.
