I've never taken the chain case cover off by myself, I need to find a video on how to, I'm too intimidated not having watched it done.
The most intimidating part of the job is removing the muffler, and for sure you have that down. Lol
Do a search and go for it, really not that bad. I prefer to do during engine oil change, that way I can just remove both bottom oil hoses which allows the oil tank/Chain case cover to swing way out of the way instead of leaving it hooked up and trying to move it enough to see the case internals. Reverse actuator info and pics are in the owners manual. Maybe a rachet strap to put the snap ring back on the bottom.

I prefer to do everything myself as the shops wont provide the level of TLC I will on my own sled. I am a perfectionist and will research and do it myself. Its the little things that make the biggest difference.

That helps. A schematic of what goes where is really nice as it tells you where everything goes. NOS-Pro had posted one. If you take your time and pictures its not bad. Take a deep breather disassemble, take pics, put back together. Check every step of the way. Its amazing the help available here.

Funny. Yes I have a muffler R&R down to an exact science. I helped my buddy change his oil and chain case oil this weekend. We were probably more than 1/2 way to removing the chain case cover by cracking it open that little bit to drain it. It's kind of the reassembly of what's inside the case that makes me nervous. This video helped a lot. I'll likely tackle this myself next Fall. Right now I have a fresh chain case as I had the dealer swap out the track at the end of last season. The most intimidating part of the job is removing the muffler, and for sure you have that down. There you go, glad that you will give it a go. The first time can be a bit intimidating.
Just make sure to keep a tight chain (1 turn out from finger tight) or you shall get some chain slap, which will cause gouging of that inside case nub which was eluded to on another thread. Ask me how I know..Grrrr ! I think a 22 top would also help keep the chain a bit further away.
